From 2008 onwards, Daniel Chagnon studied music pedagogy and professional performance at the Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen, with S. Hilker, N.Lehn, and V. Niehusmann, Advanced Music Performance Studies: Classical and Contemporary Instruments at the Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya, Barcelona, with L. Young, and Contemporary Western Music through Non-Western Techniques, where he studied the application of South Indian rhythmic techniques to Western music, at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, with R. Reina.
Together with Julian Schlitzer he formed the guitar duo Mi contra Fa, which offers a repertoire of Renaissance and Baroque music, classical, romantic, and modern pieces, flamenco, tango and jazz.
In 2014 he was selected for the interdisciplinary project Feldstärke International, which took place in Germany, France, and Japan. In the same year he gave several concerts with the mezzo-soprano Diatra Zulaika, among others for the Goetheinstitut Jakarta.
In addition, he writes and arranges for his band exit A head whose 2017 album VOID has won several prizes at the Global Music Awards.
Apart from music, the bilingual artist is enthusiastic about learning foreign languages, learning about foreign cultures, and is generally fascinated by borders and spaces in between.
